BIRTH DOULA

As a birth doula, I am here to advocate, educate, and provide emotional and physical support for birthing people and their families. I will hold space for you and try the best I can to carry out your birth wishes. I am there to offer different relaxation techniques and comfort measures for your labor and delivery process. I do not make any medical decisions for you. Instead, my role is to explain the birth process, provide support, and help you and your partner make informed decisions. Every woman is different and so is her birth. I am here to support whatever birth you desire.
-Dr. Christian

Birth Doula Services include:

Initial meeting/consultation - This is an informal meeting, at no cost, for us to get to know each other. Picking your birth team can be daunting and I want you to pick a doula that you and your partner feel comfortable with.

1-2 prenatal meetings - These meetings typically last 1-2 hours in length, with you and partner (or family). We will discuss your birth preferences, expectations, and writing or reviewing your birth plan. I am also available to attend one OB/midwife appointment with you, should you desire.

1 In-home comfort measures - This is a time to demonstrate relaxation and comfort techniques, and labor rehearsal so that you feel confident during the labor process.

Unlimited phone and/or email support, to answer any questions or concerns that may arise.

Continuous labor support - I will come to you, whether at your home, hospital or birthing center, and will be with you throughout labor and delivery. I typically stay 1 hour after delivery to make sure birthing person, baby and family are all settled.

1 Postpartum visit - I will check in with you periodically following birth and make an in-home visit, typically 2 weeks postpartum, to assess how well everyone is adjusting to their new lifestyle.

Studies have shown that mothers who have continuous labor support are:

less likely to have a caesarean section

less likely to use forceps or vacuum

less likely to use pain medications

shorter labor times

more likely to be happy with their birth outcome

My fee is $800 for birth doula services. I also offer private and small class childbirth education for families. If you have more questions or would like to schedule a meeting with me, please click the link below.
